How to Setup POP3 as IMAP Email in Windows Live Mail

This tutorial shows you how to set up Windows Mail, featured on Windows Vista, to work with your POP3 email account as an IMAP service which allows you synchronize your email with the server. You can also use these steps to set up Windows Mail, the default email client that comes pre-installed with Windows Vista.
Note: if you do not have Windows Live Mail, you can download Windows Live Mail Free from Microsoft

Start Windows Live Mail. If the Startup Wizard displays, you will automatically be prompted to create a new email account, skip to Step 2.
NOTE: If the Startup Wizard doesn't automatically display, follow these next steps to setup your new email account.

You will need to access the Menu Bar; If you do not see the Menu Bar click the Menus icon located at the top right of Windows Live Mail, then click on Show menu bar.

From the Menu Bar click on Tools and select Accounts....

In the Accounts window, click the Add button.

Select E-mail Account and click the Next button.

On the Add an E-mail Account window, enter the following:
- E-mail Address
- Enter your email address.
- Password
- Enter the password you created for your email account.
- Display Name
- Enter your first and last name.
Then click the Next button.

Enter your email account information as follows:
- My incoming mail server is a
- Select IMAP
- Incoming server
- Enter the Infinity Arts POP3/IMAP email server: pop3.infinityarts.com
- Login ID
- Enter your email address - for example: username@example.com
- Outgoing server
- Enter the Infinity Arts POP3/IMAP email server: pop3.infinityarts.com
- My outgoing server requires authentication
- Be sure to check this option

- Finally, click the Next button, then click the Finish button to complete the setup process.
Secure IMAP & SMTP Connection
Optionaly, if you would like to utilize a secure connection to send/receive email via your POP3/IMAP email service - replace step 3 above with the following details.

Enter your email account information as follows:
- My incoming mail server is a
- Select IMAP
- Incoming server
- Enter the Infinity Arts POP3/IMAP email server: pop3.infinityarts.com
- Port
- Enter port number: 993
- The server requires a secure connection (SSL)
- Be sure to check this option
- Login ID
- Enter your email address - for example: username@example.com
- Outgoing server
- Enter the Infinity Arts POP3/IMAP email server: pop3.infinityarts.com
- Port
- Enter port number: 465
- The server requires a secure connection (SSL)
- Be sure to check this option
- My outgoing server requires authentication
- Be sure to check this option
