As any blogger would know, blogging truly is a labor of love. We write blogs to share our experiences, offer support to others who find themselves facing the same challenges as you, drive traffic to our business or to build a personal brand. But the question we often find ourselves asking is how we can turn our blog into a business. Here are a few tips on how to take your blog to the next level.

  • Build your audience up and don't be fake. Having a successful blog means that you must be able to write something that is interesting and has the potential to get readers hooked on your article and the urge to read more. However, it's important to acknowledge the fact that good, interesting content is only half of the equation when it comes to building your audience. It's vital that you also create and maintain a public persona that is authentic. At times bloggers may lose their momentum, because they've created a persona that they just can't live up to. This is why it's important to set boundaries between your work and your personal life, in addition to being honest to your audience.

  • Your readers should always come first. If you really want to make blogging your life and turn it in to a full-fledged business, then it's vital that you make the relationship between you and your readers your number-one priority. Partake in conversations amongst your readers, share products and information that you genuinely like, use or have useful insight on to let your audience know that you aren't any different from them and that you care just as much about them as you do for yourself and your personal friends.

  • Post, post, post and post some more. One of the most important aspects of creating a successful blog is understanding that you just can't post an article once every two weeks or so, since your readers will likely stop visiting your page. Posting content on an ongoing regular pace helps to keep your readers intrigued. If you find yourself struggling for an idea, simply turn to situations in your own life that can be used as a topic, or look to movies, magazines, or other blogs for inspiration.

  • Collaborate with other business' that share the same interests as you and your readers. Collaborating with other likeminded brands works to the advantage of both businesses as it helps both companies to boost their exposure and broaden their reach. However, it's important that you don't simply take up every opportunity that comes your way from other companies, because readers will begin to question and trust in your opinions if they feel as though you are selling out. So if it's a company or brand that you can't see yourself using personally, it's probably best that you pass that opportunity by and refrain from standing behind a partner/product that you wouldn't normally consider or recommend.
