When Facebook was first built, it was originally designed to help users keep in touch with their friends and family. Now, Facebook has grown to accommodate businesses via Facebook Pages. Unfortunately, business page admins will often make the mistake of viewing Facebook users as "friends". This train of thought might lead a business to think that winning over their audience is as simple as making a few posts here and there.

However, not all posts are created equally, so it's important to understand how to engage with your audience. There are a variety ways a business can post to their page to help create the right type of engagement for your brand. Engagement on Facebook is reflected in three key forms: Likes, Shares and Comments. Here are a few easy ways to help you increase your audience's engagement via Facebook Posts.

Building Engagement

  1. Photos - Think of that old saying "A picture is worth a thousand words." The only difference is that on Facebook, your picture could be worth a thousand Likes. One of the simplest ways to catch a user's attention is through a picture, especially considering it's far more appealing than the standard post.

When it comes to brands, it's important to try and use familiar images. This can easily be accomplished by using a company logo or a face or product that is also tied to your brand. It also helps a lot, to create a shortened link available for readers to click on, since this to can help to boost audience engagement.

  2. Fill in the Blanks - Do you remember MadLibs? Fill-in-the-blank posts are a great way to stimulate audience engagement. The "blanks" are in essence a simple way for people to share their creativity. These are the perfect types of posts that will often generate an abundance of fun and short comments, which will ultimately encourage your audience to react and interact.

  3. Photo Captions - Using "Caption this Photo" is a great way to spark audience interest and it is as simple as posting an image and asking your Facebook fans to create a caption.
